Jayleen Grace | Birth Story

She's finally here!!

I still can't believe that we finally have our little girl here & that we are parents! It has been officially 3 weeks with her & we might be tired/ exhausted at times but seeing her little face every waking moment makes it all worth it!
You know I finally get it, you know that love every mother talks about; that love when you first lay eyes on your baby for the first time & feel at that very moment there is nothing you wouldn't do for this baby & the love you have for them is so big it's indescribable! She has been a complete dream for us & we are so grateful God entrusted us with her.

These three weeks have been filled with sleepless night, learning & loving on our little girl. Being parent has had it's obstacles but I wouldn't change it for anything! She has been such a good baby, like literally! We have heard her cry in total of maybe 3 times & all of those times took place at the hospital! When she is hungry or needs something she will just whine & get red lol but she never cries. She is the most calm baby i've seen so far. Hopefully it stays lol. We are so excited to continue to see her grow and develop that little personality of hers.

Now onto my birth story:

It was March 13th on a Monday when everything started. That day felt like any other & I went with my normal routine with cleaning the house and getting ready to run some errands. At this point I was 39 weeks pregnant and it felt at that point I might have to get induced because it was getting close to her due date. I even took a selfie documenting my 39week mark & on how she was super comfy in there lol. My mom called me to join her & my brother for lunch at olive garden & as we were finishing up I started getting Braxton hicks contractions but it was nothing out of the usual because I had been getting them on & off for a month already. When they dropped me off back home my brother joked that today was the day & that she would be here, I just replied "I hope so" lol. Little did I know that it would be!
After they left I got in my truck and went to target & walgreens to pick up some stuff & a huge photo print for baby girl's room. As I was waiting for the photo print I got a pretty sharp pain like stronger then what I had been feeling but again I just brushed it off because I didn't want to get my hopes up. When I got home my husband was already there so we decided to work on the last piece for baby girl's nursery which was a wooden frame he had made & we mounted the print I had just picked up. Soon after we were finished is when everything started....
At first it was just those sharp pains coming in pretty frequently but not quite 5 min apart yet. Then they just got stronger to the point that I had to stay still because they hurt pretty bad. This all started about 10pm at night & hour later we called the midwife because they were coming in at 5 min now & lasting longer then 50sec. She then advised me to get into the bath & see if the warm water would relax me and if it didn't then to come into the hospital because it was the real deal. So we listened & I tried the bath thing but the pain didn't stop, that's when we realized we are having a baby soon!
My husband packed the truck up & we headed to the hospital around 12am. As soon as we got there they checked to see how dilated I was & we were all surprised when they said I was already 5cm going on 6. The pain was frequently now but still nothing so bad that I needed drugs so I toughed it out thinking well i'm already 5cm how much worse can it get lol I had no idea what was coming. They put me in the delivery room & just let me labor on my own unless I wanted drugs or needed something then they would come in. I was in there with only my husband & mom, the nurse only came in if we needed her but even then sometimes she would take forever. She came once to check me & I was 7cm by then but I don't recall the time because the pain was pretty strong at that point. But still I chose to go natural. That nurse clocked out & I got a new one which I feel was heaven sent lol & you will learn why soon.
I stayed at 7cm for a long time & it was between 5am-7am when I was just getting frustrated with the pain so I kept telling my mom I wanted the epidural but she kept reminding me that I had came this far already & that I could do it. & between 7-8 is when things escalated. The midwife came in & broke my water & thats when the contractions got worse! Now looking back I am amazed because it feels like your body gives you a natural type of pain killer, like yes it hurts but our bodies are made to handle this. I was at 9cm & my nurse said "if you are ready you can push now" & you better believe after all that time that I was ready to finally meet my little girl (& of course stop the pain lol). So at 8:35 I started pushing & every time I did I felt she was out but she really wasn't & that's when my incredible nurse comes in because not only was she with me until Jayleen came but she was there every min my side. & when it came time to push she saw a complication & told me up front "look there is skin that is preventing her from coming, it will be uncomfortable but I can move it with my hand to help or we can wait to see if you open up more". I was just ready to have her so I told her do what you have to & she did. Then 17 minutes later I felt a burning sensation (which was her coming out) & at 8:52 in the morning Jayleen was born. I took her & placed her on my chest & it's like the whole world stopped & all I could see was her. It's the most incredible & rewarding feeling to give birth to your baby no matter how you choose to do it. Because in the end it's about becoming a mommy to these incredible little humans.

I really couldn't have done it without my amazing husband & mom who were there cheering me on & supporting me every step of the way. & my incredible nurse who went what I felt beyond her job to help me & push me toward my goal of having my baby naturally. & of course none of this would have been possible without God. I can say with all my heart that it was He who got us through everything from conceiving to testing at some of our appointments, not once getting sick through my pregnancy & a smooth delivery. It is because of Him that we sit here with a beautiful healthy baby girl who we love so much!
